Do I need an account? Is anything stored on a server?
No. All the counter data (title, date, color, message) travels encoded in the link itself. No account, no database: if you have the link, you have the counter.
How does it work with past dates?
Automatically: if the date already passed, the counter counts up — how many years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds have gone by. Great for anniversaries or milestones like “days without smoking”.
What happens at zero?
The page throws confetti, announces the day arrived and, if the link carries a hidden message, reveals it. Then it keeps counting the elapsed time.
Is the count exact with years and months?
Yes. We use the real calendar, not millisecond division: 28/30/31-day months and leap years are respected. “1 month” means an actual calendar month.
What does the timezone option mean?
With “local time”, each person who opens the link counts against their own clock (right for Christmas or New Year). With “fixed instant”, everyone sees the exact same moment (right for a launch or an online event).
Is the hidden message private?
It travels encoded so it can't be read at a glance, but it is not encrypted: anyone technical can decode it. Don't put sensitive data in it.
